One of the most widely respected records, certainly a special consideration of all time with regard to live recordings is the Live and Direct album from British roots rock reggae outfit, Aswad. For Notting Hill Carnival in 1983 Aswad recorded their set and released it commercially. Alpha past student, long time UK resident and trumpet player Edward 'Tan Tan' Thornton was on stage with the group for that event. Listen to the 45-minute set below...

Alpha Institute music students led by musical director and Alpha music instructor Andres Lopez offer a new audio and visual take on the Don Drummond classic!

Creatively designed by the students themselves, the Don De Lion music video was filmed on location at Alpha Institute (formerly Alpha Boys School) and allowed students to explore Jamaica's musical history and that of one of Alpha's most acclaimed graduates.
