Alongside music the Alpha Boys' School also offers other vocational training in tailoring and wood work – with the aim of giving these kids the chance of building a good career. Joshua Chamberlain is one of the Branson Centre entrepreneurs and he's working to develop new income streams for the school that ensure its future. One of these is the Alpha Boys' School radio station.
Now, Alpha Boys' School Radio is seeking to develop another avenue for entrepreneurship and income for the boys at Alpha with the construction of a Radio Studio & Media Lab.
In 2013, Alpha Boys’ School received first place in the Pitch To Rich competition at the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship – Caribbean (BCoEC) with clothing line Alpha Wear.
"The Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship is a critical resource for business development, personal development and, in Alpha's case, the sustainability of Alpha Boys' School," said Chamberlain. "Alpha has a history of entrepreneurship without really calling it as such. The Branson Centre has helped Alpha staff and students to tap into their existing entrepreneurial values and interests."
