M10 IN THE AREA

M10 (Facebook page) is located at 6 Vineyard Road. But if you've never been there, you would never know it. There is no sign announcing the presence of one Kingston's favourite restaurants and its long brown gate fades into background of other gates in the Franklin Town area of Vineyard Town. Called by the Jamaica Observer's Food Awards "Jamaica's Best Kept Secret), M10 is nestled between downtown East Kingston and the famous Wareika hillside community.

Its nondescript exterior means M10 is lazer-focused on whats happening inside. A playlist of vintage and current local as well as foreign selections seranades patrons from 11am to 11pm under the night sky. There is also seating under newly covered areas but which for all pratical purposes is still comfortably 'outdoors'.

M10 also has the menu covered. Lobster, crab, chicken, pork and fish are cooked with a popualr mix of Jamaican and signatures flavours. The kitchen is led by owner Marvin Tenn's award-winning mother and chef, Mrs Claudette Tenn. The large portions the kitchen doles out make the already reasonable prices seem even more so. We recommend the saltfish fritters, escoveitch fish, curried lobster and barbequed pork chop.

Oh, and 6 Vineyard Road is just 2 stone's throws from 26 South Camp Road and Alpha institute. You can't learn on an empty stomach. For tours of the Alpha Boys School grounds please click here for more informationn.
