The International Reggae Poster Contest is an initiative designed to celebrate positive international reggae culture. The contest was founded by Michael Thompson and Maria Papaefstathiou in 2011 and highlights the globalization of reggae and the impact of its message.

The primary reason for organizing the poster contest is to construct an international platform to showcase a far-reaching vision: the establishment of a world-class Reggae Hall of Fame museum and performance center in Kingston, Jamaica.

The other important objective of the IRPC is to help raise awareness about the Alpha Institute. Alpha is a great Jamaican success story, producing some of the most notable legends in Reggae. The IRPC sees Alpha as a key driver behind Reggae’s global appeal and a critical partner in the development of the music today as Alpha continues to focus on making sure there is access to music education for those who need it most.
