Tarrus Riley Joins Johnny Osbourne for the First Single from Osbourne's New Album

Osbourne and Riley revisit one of Osbourne's first hits which was itself based on a cover of The Spinners' “I’ll Be Around”, written by legendary Philadelphia Soul hit maker and Jamaican-born Thom Bell.
Living legend Johnny Osbourne and soulful, roots reggae icon Tarrus Riley alongside legendary hornsman Dean Fraser team up on “We Need Love”, a contemporary collaborative reimagining of one of Johnny’s most well-known, album-only tracks from his 1979 critically acclaimed Studio One album Truth & Rights.
This inspired, new take on a reggae revival classic is the first taster shared from Johnny Osbourne’s forthcoming album Universal Love Showcase produced by the top ranking producer Frenchie from Maximum Sound, due for release by VP Records on the 29th of August 2025.
Widely revered as ‘The Dancehall Godfather,’ Osbourne’s legendary career spans nearly six decades. A past member of the Alpha Boys’ School band, Osbourne has remained a vital creative force, collaborating with renowned producers like Winston ‘Techniques’ Riley, King Jammy, Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, Linval Thompson, and Bobby ‘Digital B’ Dixon, among many others.
