Collin 'The Captain' Hines is the Disc Jockey Instructor at Alpha School of Music and a Radio Broadcaster and DJ known for his work entertaining millions of listeners on Fame FM where he plays the oldies and the goodies. The Captain is also the instructor for Alpha's Introduction to Disc Jockey Techniques class. Winston ‘Sparrow' Martin is Bandmaster Emeritus at the Alpha School of Music. He entered Alpha Boys School in the 1950s and was tutored by Reuben Delgado and Lennie Hibbert. Sparrow played on The Wailers' hit “Stir it Up” and toured internationally with top ska bands Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires, Carlos Malcom and the Afro Caribs and also Jimmy James and the Vagabonds. In 1987, at Sister Ignatius' request, Sparrow returned to Alpha as tutor, bandmaster, music director, counselor and mentor. He received a Bronze Musgrave Medal in 2007 for his contributions to Jamaican culture.

Alpha has been called a “dream factory” (NPR/USA) for “legendary musicians” (Jamaica Gleaner) who “helped release the spirit of one of the most musical islands in the world” (The Telegraph/UK). Alpha’s place in Jamaica’s music pantheon can be heard on Alpha Boys School Radio, a 24/7 streaming station that plays music only recorded in whole or in part by Alpha graduates. Click here to listen!
