Yellowman, the original King of Dancehall, is an alumnus of the Alpha Boys School and a trailblazer for Jamaican music around the world. He is the first Jamaican deejay signed to a major record label, Columbia Records, and has released several classics including ‘Zunguzunguzunguzeng’, ‘Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt’ and ‘I’m Getting Married in the Morning.’ Click here for more Yellowman music.
Direct from Jamaica, tYellowman, returns to Brooklyn for a special headlining set backed by the Sagittarius Band. Also on the bill is his Alpha classmate, former trumpet player in the Alpha band and the original Dancehall Godfather, Johnny Osbourne.
The event features JA-to-BK legends Screechy Dan and Red Fox; and Jamaica’s own Yaadcore & Di Yaad Man Dem. The duo of saxophonist Anant Pradhan and Jamaican percussion great Larry McDonald will back Johnny Osbourne, also performing a set of their own.
DJs Max Glazer, Ayanna Heaven, JonnyGo Figure, African Violet Roots, Barry Cole and LargeUp’s own DJ Gravy will set the tone for the evening with musical selections; Nick Seale of New York’s Power 105.1 will serve as the evening’s MC.
